Meet The Trainer: Erin Courtney

We’re continuing our “Meet the Trainer” series, where we are introducing you all to our fantastic Tribe coaches, instructors and contributors.

Today, you’ll meet our newest coach, Erin Courtney.

BPK: Hey Erin! Let’s start off with your certifications, since I know you are proud of those:

EC: Sure! I am a NASM CPT, CES, and FRCMS certified personal trainer. Fancy acronyms for being a Certified Personal Trainer, a Corrective Exercise Specialist, and a Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist.

BPK: That’s great. I know how much studying goes into that. Would you say you enjoy studying and continuing to grow your mind?

EC: Most definitely! I earned my BS in Kinesiology at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and am currently attending SFSU for my Master’s in Social Psychology. I plan to pursue my Ph.D. in the same field.

BPK: Super impressive man! Can you tell us a little bit about your training history, style and what Tribers can expect from you?

EC: I have been working as a fitness coach for over 7 years. I specialize in rehabilitation from previous injuries, recovery post-surgery, and elite athletic development through strength, mobility, and control. I am particularly passionate about helping people embark on a new chapter in their lives through fitness, be it pursuing health, athleticism or rehabilitation.

BPK: And what would you say to someone who didn’t think they were strong enough to train with you or to even start a program?

EC: I am a firm believer that strength is state of mind, well before it is a physical trait. And the programming and teaching style I have reflects this. I will help Tribers achieve their first handstand, their first pull-up, or whatever goal they have.. and they’ll do so with feeling comfortable and confident moving their bodies.

BPK: Tell the fans something about you and your hobbies.

EC: Well, in my free time I enjoy bodysurfing, backpacking, snowboarding, and reading.
